Recently, Obscuria Gothic Shop was approached by the legendary Fangoria Horror Magazine to do an interview for their website….and of course I was happy to oblige!

Some thought provoking questions were asked of me by writer Jorge Solis who was great to work with.

A small sampling of the interview:

FANG: Cyberpunk lovers will find plenty to enjoy with your exclusive hand-machined industrial cyber goggles, cyber masks and cyberpunk DVDs. What is it about the cyberpunk genre that interests you? How has it influenced the shop?

BRONSON: Great question! The cyberpunk genre is both a love/hate relationship for me. I grew up loving it from an aesthetic perspective, and for the rebellious nature of the main characters in books or films. I liked how the hero could sort of live outside of the system, yet move within it for his/her own means. At the same time, in this genre, the prevalence of societies fallen into dystopia, poverty and totalitarian control by a single large for-profit entity is very disconcerting…..

We are honored that the infamous Rue Morgue magazine contacted us to display an item in their deviantly dark “Needful Things” section of issue #93 September 2009.  The featured item is the Nosferatu’s Rest Coffin Pendant , a wicked coffin shaped pendant inspired by F.W. Murnau’s German classic silent horror film and crafted by Alchemy Gothic.

Rue Morgue magazine is a Canadian based publication that gives a balanced look at horror in culture and entertainment through their website, magazine, festival of fear horror convention, radio station and more.

Our longtime friend Tanya Hostetler recently underwent a double lung transplant after a long time battle with Cystic Fibrosis – a serious and difficult to manage disease.  Tanya’s other half Shawn Ohtani, and her love of the Metal/Industrial scene keep her going, along with her sense of humor and smart ass retorts.  Along with such a live saving surgery comes tons of expenses, lost wages and difficulties to overcome.

This Saturday September 26th 2009 a benefit show is being held in her honor and as a fundraiser. If you are in the Orlando area, come out and show your support and see a great show!

Just found this video, a very intersting melding of styles and imagery. The vocals are deep, brooding and gothic, with a synthy/violin sounding background which breaks into country sounding fiddle riffs, very danceable indeed, and would be tons of fun to hear at a club!

We recently were invited to setup a vending area for the Fifth annual Necropolis Masquerade Ball (thanks DJ LD) , in  downtown Orlando. It was great night and we got to hear some newer songs like the “Zydrate Anatomy” from the REPO: The Genetic Opera soundtrack … along with the elusive Christian Bale Rant Remix (thanks Ginger!), as well as some favorite Industrial/EBM sounds. About 350 people turned out for the night which was cool with a fantastic range of outfits.. along with some awesome animal head masks that reminded me of the movie The Wicker Man.

We setup with a couple of tables in the Pit area, along with amazing artist Vaughn Belak from whom we bought a surreal painting much to our delight.  Some photos to follow…
